When a Parkinson's freeze of the legs happens you can stimulate the visual neural pathway by using a laser pointer device and pointing it at the ground in front of you as a sort of target to walk towards, and you should be able to take steps again. A red laser is great for indoors and the evening. A green laser is the most powerful and can be seen during sunny days. Even staring directly at the green dot on the ground is hard on the eyes. So be aware of the laser dot visually but you don't need to sare directly at the light on the ground. Never shine the laser into eyes. Sometimes you don't have a laser pointer with you. Non-laser unfreeze techniques are in my book "Ultimate Parkinson's Tips to Walk Faster, Stand Up, Unfreeze, Turn in Bed, and More", available at Amazon.
It is about tricking the neural pathway. The techniques used provide from 30 to 40% improvement in movement while the technique is in use.
